  PotDs... a new experiment! - Site News

Good Evening!

Since we've been getting several Photoshopped screenshots in the PotD queue lately from different members, I've decided to try a little experiment with their validation and posting up on the site. The experiment is quite simple, we are going to divide the PotDs into two types and show them on specific days.

1. Ingame Shots
2. Concept Shots

Ingame Shots are simply the normal shots in Legacy. Concept Shots are shots that are heavily photoshopped (eg. passed through a chrome or infrared filter). There may be a gray area between a shot that is slightly touched up with an airbrush and a normal shot but that is part and parcel of how things go.

PotDs will be shown the exact same way as always has been except on a Saturday and Sunday we will show the Concept Shots. Thus Monday - Friday will be when the normal ingame shots are shown.

Submitting PotDs will be the same except if you wish to enter a Photoshopped shot you should add the prefix "concept - "to the title (eg. "concept - The Dogs of War")
If you add a Photoshopped picture to the queue and don't add the prefix it might not get shown at all. The main reason I am denoting it as Concept as people who photoshop shots are doing so to convey a concept they may have of a shot, plus it sounds much better than Photoshopped shots. wink

Example 1: Just to give a prime example here is a storyboard type shot which I jumbled together in photoshop as an example.



Example 2: Another one, totally different from Noci3 resembling a shot that looks like a CGI render.



You may ask why are we doing this? Well I figure since there are alot of Photoshopped shots and people willing to do them, we should embrace that fact and give them a platform to show their work rather than scorn or let people scorn photoshopped shots that appear on the site. Also the photoshop shots take away from the monotony of the PotDs.
We'll only give this a trial run for a month to see what results it returns!

Posts: 115 		Shouldn't in-game, non-manipulated shots of previously unreleased ships and such fall under the concept shot category too? It seems to give an unfair advantage, because people will rate the pics of the new ships up in anticipation of their release. Just a thought.

Find Yourself a gallery if You want to make such pictures.
