Picture of the Month, June 2008
This Page has been viewed 1,828 times

Here are the results for the June 2008 Picture of the Month for Star Trek Legacy Files.

Its an all concept POTM result this month as the winner and runner up push their art skills to the limit. Once again we have been at the mercy of some individuals who want to spoil the communities involvement in star trek legacy. But it is my hope that a fair result has surfaced.

In First Place

Concept - We're Breaking Free!

This months winner is Amagosa's divine image showing the famous scene from Generations where the Enterprise-B enters the Nexus. Amagosa, here, has completely transformed the original image to include his own Nexus and deflector beam along with many other bits of detail. The effort and quality of this image makes it a worthy winner for this month.

In Second Place

Concept - Crossfire

Congratulations to Noci3, begining his domination of the runners up positions this month with a stunning shot - Noci shows a nice capture and quote combined with great photoshopping to give us a rustic yet powerful combat based image. Well deserved to be up here.

In Third Place

Concept - no longer an Experiment

I will never get tired of seeing the excelsior. Noci completes this months round up with an incredible beauty shot of the NCC-2000, capturing the lighting on the hull and capturing a fantastic metailic look. Which i think should be applied to all starships. This is my favourite shot this month, and my personal favourite out of all of Noci's submissions, congrats on third place!

Dont forget to keep sending in your unedited shots!!

Thankyou for all your submissions, keep them coming. Kudos to all, you all do great work.

Amagosa.

Personally, I dont like all of these concept pictures. The point of a POTD is to show cool captures of in-game play, not show of your photoshop skills.

For the people who do these concept pictures, they do look very nice, but it takes away the winnig possibility of those who don't have photoshop skills like you (or just dont have photoshop at all).

i think the POTD's should go back to the way they were with just unaltered in-game shots.

The concept images can be released in a download pack or something.

Sorry if i have offended anyone, but i am just giving my opinion

# 3, I do agree with you.
The high glamor and detail sets expectations a tad high and makes good ratings rather difficult to attain for unaltered submissions. So all of a sudden every pic is "Required" to have max AA, max detail, the best angle, the best amount of action, the most popular ship, need I go on?

Nice pics anyway though.

well the highest ever rated potd remains a normal pic. as is the second. the fourth. the 7th, the 8th, 10th 11ths...
concepts only hold the 3rd, 5th, 6th and 9th place within the top 10..
its not a case of concept dominance.. im sure a normal pic could achieve 8.4 or 8.5 or above - they just need to be good enough.. take a look at; http://legacy.filefront.com/potd/86681 for instance..

Firstly we used to have exceptional quality in game shots almost a year ago, hence you'll see in the PotM archives but people aren't putting the effort into making decent in game shots anymore at all.

Secondly, the concept shots are still going to be shown on the site, they are only shown two days of the week, so there is a 5-2 ratio in favour of the ingame shots, the only difference is the ingame shots are not that great as you will see when the next PotD pack is released soon. The PotM represents the highest scoring PotDs in each month regardless of whether it is concept or ingame. Thats just how the barrel rolls guys............

IKS I have to disagree with you, I bust my **** on all my in game shots, I spend allot of time and effort to get them right where I want them.
