It should work for most people who have minimum spec... but not for everyone, unfortunetly including yours truely.
Anyway, its a good tutorial |

really i can see you everywhere, and the first moment i noticed you was when you pmed. and most likely i would have noticed you on the forum. just be patient
and your problem was just your onboard intel graphics controller |
Zarnywoop Joined: February 26th, 2002 Posts: 30 | "supported" usually means that they give technical assistance to people with that hardware... it doesnt neccesarily mean that it wont work on them. |
Henze From: Joined: June 26th, 2005 Posts: 625 | that's why i think they randomly choosed it. because they force you to buy another graphics card. and sometimes even that won't work.
they had to test that out. made a beta of the game or so. |
Genesis119 From: (Massachusetts) Joined: April 9th, 2005 Posts: 162 | I did everything it said to do in steps 1-5, and it still crashes on startup. Any other words of wisdom that might be able to fix this problem? Because I'm NOT deleting everything in the Shaders folder like this thing's telling me to. |
Henze From: Joined: June 26th, 2005 Posts: 625 | but it's the only way capt'n.
you can of course make a backup of the shaders folder in case it did not work. |
Magpie70 From: (Newcastle upon Tyne) Joined: December 23rd, 2006 Posts: 1 | I followed the fix to the letter but still got the access violation window. I tried the fix again but went straight from step 6 to step 9 ( only deleted the files in the post process folder ), BINGO !! The thing works ,so far so good.

It says to delete the .fxo and fx. files... but I think that there is no need for that, just ignore step 7 (don't delete the fiiles) and jump directly to step 9.
though AVE still happens every first loading of a new mission.
Thanks for the fix now I can play STL.... ^__^
p.s.
does anyone of you peeps experience the missing/hangging/not responding mouse pointer after several actions ingame? Also the monitor flickkering turning to black screen-sounds hang-returns to normal play-then black screen again then tada!! alt+f4 because it won't return to normal again, and you have to restart your PC.... Is this a problem with my card? (my card is Radeon 9250 256mb)
I've tried running dxdiagnostic after the black screen thingie and it says that direct 3D and diriect Draw is not functional. |

for some people that isn't required. for some other people they have to. |
Starforce_2 From: (st paul mn) Joined: December 29th, 2006 Posts: 70 | Ive tried that or not tried it and I've deleted the contents of the folder in the aders folder and only one file was access so I deleted the rest. I still get access violation crash. I don't even get to see the menu. Specs are:
p4 3.2 ghz
ati x1600xt 512 mb with ati 6.12 drivers from ati site
direct x 9 installed from legacy CD
1gb ram.
and it just keeps crashing. I've set all the settings for the video car to min then max and no change. |
Henze From: Joined: June 26th, 2005 Posts: 625 | try with installing the 9.0c december release...
do the steps again, this time delete only the files in the postprocessfolder and leave the files in the shader folder, while keeping THAT folder renamed to aders |

I get this randomly during the game. it happens at different times and is never when i try to start the game, always during play. whats wrong? |
chestermike From: Joined: June 2nd, 2008 Posts: 1 | I have tried the steps and the game still does not work. I think I am going wrong in step 4. I can create the file easily enough, but after you have created it what do you do with it??? Do you copy it into the game file? Or into 'aders'??? Or what?
Please help. |

deaks25 Joined: July 22nd, 2008 Posts: 3 | #15. I get the same problem with my 9250 (128Mb). All you need to do is pause the game when the screen goes blank, then hit 'Alt' & 'Tab', which Minimizes the game, then just click on the game to maximize it again and it should be fine. The stoppage is quite random
If anyone knows how to fix this problem permanently, would be greatly appreciated |

muldrf From: Joined: November 3rd, 2008 Posts: 229 | Try Deleting the C: Program Files Bethesda Softworks Star Trek Legacy folder. Most likely you have files remaining in that folder after you uninstalled it, and they are causing your Legacy to crash once it's reinstalled. |
MARKYNCC Joined: April 12th, 2009 Posts: 162 | I have had this problem in the past and 'muldrf' is correct, you most likely have files left over. Legacy will only uninstall the original files and folders, if you have added anything to it such as maps, ships etc they will be left over. The best advice I can give you, if you cant get it to work, is to
Uninstall the game.
Search for any files relating to Star Trek Legacy and delete them all.
Look for a file called 'STLsave' and delete this also.
Reinstall the game, a box usually comes up asking which directory you want to install Legacy to. When this box appears add a 1 on the end: so instead of:
(C rogram files Bethesda SoftworksStar Trek Legacy)
it reads
(C rogram files Bethesda SoftworksStar Trek Legacy1)
you wont have any problems at all, as this will install a brand new copy of Legacy in a brand new directory , and any errors or mods you installed previously wont be included.
Hope this helps. |
MARKYNCC Joined: April 12th, 2009 Posts: 162 | The sticking out tounge faces shouldnt be in there! the way I have written the comment caused it! |
MARKYNCC Joined: April 12th, 2009 Posts: 162 | the Exception Violation, has got nothing to do with computer specs, this box appears when something has been added to or changed in the game and has missing or incorrect files.
e.g.
Assigning a weopan to a ship when the weopans not installed in Legacy! latest example of this is the STXI Kelvin ship, as soon as you tried to fire the phasers, it crashed you to the desktop, reason, missing odf file!!
altering the phasers on a ships odf file and getting 1 letter wrong, due to a typing mistake!
so if the game worked before your last mod, go back and look carefully through your game files where you changed things, you will find a mistake!
it is very easy believe me!
The same applies when you install a new ship, and you get the big white cube with a red bug on the side, that signifies missing files or incorrectly altered files, check! |

chicodennard From: Joined: April 12th, 2010 Posts: 1 | Another trick that I thought of did work. If you have access to another computer that the game does work on, copy the entire "Star Trek Legacy" folder to an external hard drive. Then past that folder in your the Bethesda Softworks folder. Make sure you click copy and replace if the computer prompts you. This worked for me. Good Luck!! And Enjoy the Game. Chico Newark, NJ |
