| Vesta Class (1.5) - File Description |
 |
Quality: 10 Creativity: 10 Installation Instructions: 9
Overall Rating: 9.7 | Description:
In 2380, Starfleet launched its first slipstream capable multi-mission tactical explorer. When thrown into the massive borg invasion of the Alpha Quadrant, these vessels were born and prooven. The most famous vessel, U.S.S. Aventine, commanded by Ezri Dax would mark the Vesta class as the first of a new generation of top secret technologies and renewed enthusiasm as the Federation pushes out into the final frontier once again.
Take the helm of one of ten Vesta class starships, each armed with a new plasma torpedo and capable of retina detaching slipstream velocities. As an entry for the scratch built Starship contest, I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making the newest ship of the line. Special thanks to the design's author, Mark Rademaker, for creating an amazing new vessel and for helping to make this project possible. Thanks also to MarkyNCC for beta testing and support.

Any.
Installation:
Run the installer package, choose your legacy version for install.
Credits, Legal and Distribution:
This ship is an original production, except for the torpedo, which is courtesy of Anun C8 and the MR Sprite mod. I am not responsible for any problems this mod may cause your installation (which should be none anyway), nor am I responsible for the collateral damage caused to other ships that encounter the Vesta class. This is not released for profit and has nothing to do with Maddoc and Bethesda.
I hereby grant permission for this ship to be included in future mods. Feel free to tweak it to your liking. I am modder and porter friendly so the ms3d can be made available upon request. Any questions comments or concerns, please contact me at res1577@aol.com.
Again, thanks Mark Rademaker for your help! | |

Ayesu From: (New york. The exe's always crash my game and a no longer trust them for single ship mods. |
TiberiousKirk From: Joined: November 1st, 2007 Posts: 323 | nice I've wanted to know what this ship looked like for a while now. Looks tough |
Kophjaeger Joined: August 3rd, 2008 Posts: 268 | Ayesu, I would but my comp crashed yesterday. What I do with the exes is just execute them into a dummy folder (you may need to copy legacy.exe for the installer to work). Then take the files and put them in your install.
Hope you guys enjoy! |

I just tried it out in UU 1.5 and it handles beautifully.
However...
I found that the weapons didn't quite add up to my expectations.
A Norexian Class can take it on easily with standard weapons yet it was a challenge to take the Norexian on as the Vesta with full power to weapons.
Overall a superbly done ship... brilliant textures, awesome plasma torpedoes (a little weak but still amazing looking) and great maneuverability.

Grig From: (Clanton) Joined: July 1st, 2006 Posts: 304 | The Vesta Class - like the Luna - isn't intended to be the Sovereign .2
If anything it's closer to the Miranda, Intrepid and Nebula classes - primarily designed as a go-to ship, a powerful science ship with secondary designs and theories based around battle. I think it works fine for what it is - a Norexean is SUPPOSED to be a sleeker faster alternative to the main-frontline Romulan Battleships (capable of taking on a Sovereign) it should take at least two Vesta's to take down a Norexean
IMO it lines up perfectly 10/10 |

The game is not consistent, sometimes you can destroy an enemy vessel easily, sometimes you cannot. Sometimes any enemy ship will keep firing its weapons at you until you die, another time it will fly around you in circles and not do anything!
For the TB3 campaign, I created more powerful borg vessels, which are impossible to defeat sometimes, but are easily defeafed another time.
in my opinion from beta testing the vessel, the ship is a masterpiece, it handles great, looks stunning, and fills a huge gap in the 'late TNG era'
From experience,it seams to me that the game engine always works things so that the players ships are more powerful than the enemy ships |
Jc2006 From: Joined: January 16th, 2007 Posts: 238 | I believe you're right Mark, at least from what I've seen in the last three years or so, there must be a setting somewhere that gives the player the advantage somehow, you just have to work around it the best you can.
It's great that a Vesta Class has been made for Legacy though and that Kophjaeger decided to make it capatible with stock and other mods, I'm seriously considering downloading it.

MARKYNCC Joined: April 12th, 2009 Posts: 162 | I think it is the same 'person' or 'persons' that keep giving 'everyones' work on this site '1 out of 10 ratings'.
It would be interesting to see exactly who they are? and the files they have submitted to this site?
Nobody deserves a '1 out of 10' vote, that is simply ridiculas! |

With the current changes and bug fixes going on, its an idea that probably wont go very far. |
_dEjavU_ From: (California) Joined: July 12th, 2008 Posts: 366 | Again I can't thank you enough for sharing this kophjaeger, she is a thing of beauty indeed and great work on the background profile for her(it's perfect! )Kophjaeger this one's for you buddy.
I would'nt pay attention to that 1 rater(who ever that person is)bcfiles have been putting up with that guy for a long long time. Commenting on that guys behaviour will only fuel his motivation to keep doing this in the future. If people start ignoring the 1 ratings it will no longer be the same for that person to keep doing it, I think this guy just gets thrills off ratteling other peoples cage. Apperantly jealousy is a very powerful driver for this guy. |
