This is a neat little "how-to?" manual for beginner modders. The tutorial explains renaming and modifying ODF's, retexturing DDS files and explains simple installation techniques. Useful for the beginners and those of you who are curious enough to download.

An in depth tutorial into how to use the stock models in Legacy to create a new class of ship or a refit, rename it, retexture it and add it to the game.

Ideal for people relatively new to modding.

I am a totally new to modding and really struggled to get information on how to edit textures for refits so I made this tutorial. Before you go on, I am not pretending to know everything about modding and so may not do things a perfect way – but some sort of a guide is better than nothing.

Before you continue you should be comfortable with creating refits by re-using textures and editing ODF files using the basename command.

If you are not, refer to legacymods.com and see the "Duplicating in-game ships" post. Get confident with this and try making several refits before even attempting to edit textures on a refit model.

Posts: 14 		is there anything i can use besides photoshop? i am new to modding, i have done a little changes to the odf files and the like but i wanna stat doing more. photoshop is just a little expensive for my tastes. is there like a freeware version of anything like that that i can use?
