*NEW* All In One - The Ultimate Universe (1.0) - File Description

Tech: 10
Quality: 10
FunFactor: 10
Creativity: 10

Overall Rating: 10

Description:
"This has been, and will continue to be, a wild ride." - Chris Jones Gaming.

Star Trek: Legacy: The Ultimate Universe 2.0 is now available from http://www.ultimateuniversemod.net

Here we have the latest "All in one" rendition of the Ultimate Universe modification. As the title suggests you won't need anything other than this to bring your Legacy install right up to the latest build in the Ultimate Universe series. This download features just about every ENT-VOY Ship you could ever think of, I do however hope that some-time in the future we might see some Delta Quadrant vessels (Other than the included, and brilliant 8472 Bioship) creeping their way in some-how! A comprehensive read-me, including an ever-expanding list of improvements and additions is attached here (see below) and can also be found in the program's installation wizard.

Most of you will already know what this download includes, but for those of you who don't:

I could talk about the Ultimate Universe modification for hours upon hours but since it's rapidly evolving with each release I think it's best that a summary is made when there is an end in sight - which I don't hope to see for a long time yet!

Notable features with this, compared to some of the other releases is the improved user interface. Not everyone has seen this addition, since each download was large but hopefully you can download this, play it to its maximum potential and still have a few skirmishes before you have to upgrade to another Ultimate Universe Release! stick out tongue

I really do wish the Chris Jones Team the best of luck with continuing Ultimate Universe and I hope to see more of the same, if not better (if that is humanly possible? :S smile)

Please note. The Original releases have now been organised into a 4-part series

-Michael.

*NEW* All In One - The Ultimate Universe (1.0) - Readme
Readme File:
This has been, and will continue to be, a wild ride.
This file dated Sept. 2007

On to the nitty gritty. You can select which directory to install the mod into, although It has been set to the default Legacy directory. This installer puts all the files in the proper places inside your Legacy Game. It is recommended that you have a brand new install of Legacy for this mod. That install should include Official Patches 1.1 and 1.2 for Multiplayer. If you wish to see the correct chunking of nacelles and such things when they are blown off your ship, you can only do this in single player in an unpatched game. Note that this mod DOES work well in an unpatched version of Legacy.

Note the many new game modes in the Ultimate Universe, many originally authored by TJoz. Battlefest Mode by MaxLoef, and Exploration Mode by Chris Jones.

The Ultimate Universe is fully Multiplayer compatible. We have found that using a program called Hamachi <http://www.hamachi.cc/> helps when connecting for Multiplayer - use the LAN setting.

A utility is included to allow for the six races in the Ultimate Universe to be selectable in Multiplayer. All players that join the game will need to have the same 4 races selected so they don't get the "different version" error when trying to join.

It doesn't matter what order you pick the races in as long as you choose the same 4 races as everyone else. It sorts them and once they are changed it updates the boxes to the races that are currently selected although possibly shown in different boxes than you selected. There is no need to use the Default button between race changes just choose your new selections.

This same utility allows for switching the default race in the mode maps - default is Federation. You can also disable the on screen displays for movie making or scenic screenshots. Muldrf authored this utility.

Upgrade system, here! Upgrade/Refit your ships in the ship select area. Max Loef and Phoenix, with credits to Tjoz for the initial upgrade system and upgrade system odf template..

New Interface from Mindwipe..

Some ships, as you'll see, are still stock. Our Goal is to replace all the stock ships with newer better looking ones.

There are 6 playable races in Single Player and Multiplayer Modes. Cardassian and Vulcan are selectable in addition to the original four (see above for multiplayer notes). The menus are different and less laggy, as you might notice, good for low end PC's.

More features of this mod..

1. Originally the game had a max player limit of 4 player we have extended that 6 and 8 player maps, through Trickester's original Community Mod.
2. Larger, more dramatic Explosions (by Miri's Hot/Max Loef/Mindwipe) - New Explosion Audio as well.
3. We have approximately 70+ new maps added.
4. Historical Missions added - Wrath of Khan (scripted to end properly), The Die Is Cast, Enterprise Incident, First Contact, Paradise Lost, etc...
5. Special Modes with approximately 130+ ships in battles - Single Player - also some Original missions, One On One, System Conquest, Survival, and Armada mode. There are lite versions of many of these.
6. AI Ships More aggressive. Smaller ships, when in numbers, may fly in formation.
7. Lots of new ships ranging from ENT, TOS, TMP, and TNG era's with a few future ships.
8. New Repair interface / Faster repair rates
9. Enemy Ships repair themselves in game..
10. Overhaul of stock interface, now a friendlier interface.
11. Some elements of the 'Tactical Enhancement Mod' included
12. You can tractor any ship.. note that their engines are disabled when you do that - permantly - still - the tractor beams may have some use down the line..

See the included readme folder for more features and credits

Known Bugs:

1. The special mode missions in Single Player do not end properly, yet. You need to escape out of the game manually. Note that the scripting tools released by Bethesda in August 2007 will help to solve this problem. We think you'll find it only a minor inconvenience at this time.
2. The Occasional Dancing Torpedo - on very few ships.

3. 8472 Mission – hits on 8472 may produce a white glow effect

4. Same for some Breen ships

The Ultimate Universe Borg Pack - Brand New Borg Cube

With this new Cube you will enjoy the maps

1. Wolf359
2. First Contact (specially balanced - Defiant version included)
3. Unimatrix One and Two
4. One on One Vs. the Cube (This is Tough)
5. The Borg Attack (Get Armoured Voyager) – wonderful eye candy.
6. Special Mode Borg Maps - Survival, Armada

7. Assimilated Earth

A slew of new maps will be included. The Cube will take on..

1. Klingons. Recall in 'Best of Both Worlds' that Admiral Hansen said the Klingons were sending ships. They did.
2. Romulans. The Praetor would not be proud of this, lol..
3. Vulcans - This one's fun - Vulcans in formation.
4. The Dominion - you may know that the Dominion share a border with the Borg. It is conceivable that they have clashed.
5. Cardassian Cubelands

The Breen take on the Borg in a Survival Map or 2 .. Looks much cooler with this new Cube.

What if in the Enterprise episode 'Regeneration', Archer had not been able to stop that 'Alien' freighter? You could theorize that the 'Temporal Cold War' got involved here and the Borg managed to get a Cube to Earth in the Ent timeline. Some of the Starfleet ships, the ones who did not engage the Borg, survived and evolved into TOS era - where another Cube battle took place...

Any and all use of this Borg model and texture must be approved by the creators. Use without formal approval from all party's involved in its creation, it will be deemed as a fraudulent claim of rights to having built the model and or created the texture. In such cases you will be asked to immediately cease using the model and or texture.

Permissions for use if this new cube must be sought from the following:

Chris Jones – Moonraker - Writeall

THE ULTIMATE DOMINION

New Wrath of Khan Mission in the Historical Missions section of Non-Campaign.. Complete with proper music. The mission will end properly depending the outcome.

ALL NEW EXPLOSIONS from Miri's Hot - the best yet
(Borg Cube blows out chunks when it loses key systems)

Also from Miri..
UI Folder ( Controls .XML) A little tweak I found, gets ship closer to middle of screen.
Config.cfg file (I set the cfg_CameraFOV to .785) gets great detail this way.

New Weapon effects and Animations from Max Loef

does anyone know how to make 2 versions of the game on one computer.
for example... keep my current version of the game intact and playable but also have this version to choose to play
I have heared some of the staff mentioning that they have 4 or 5 installs of the game each with different mods, but how do you do this?

I can't believe you YopYop...the guy who worked on that ship worked hours to improve that damn ship...ok..sure it may not be up to Moon quality...but an improvement is an improvement non the less.

in regards to the dominion ship....are you looking close enought to SEE the ships?...

drsjohnny, this All in One is what it says on the tin..........It's got everything in that Chris Jones Gaming has made and released in the last........coming up to 10 months now.....

Original All In One
Borg Pack
Dominion Pack
Upgrade to Version 1.0

This All In One actually is Ultimate Universe 1.0.........so if you've been following the Ultimate Universe with the packs and have just added the Update to Version 1.0..........you'll be as current as this All In One........

Enjoy People, a lot of time, effort and talent have gone into this, all for free, lol........but it's worth it when other Star Trek fans get something out of it.

It is a big file, I won't argue with you there, lol...........but I have to give it to the compiler of this thing, if you see how big it is when it's uncompressed..........I personally don't know how he got it down to the size he did, lol........

There's just tons of content, you know...........all the stuff we've done in just over half a GB..........and if it is too much of a download for anyone, of course, they can still download the originals from here in the forms of Part 1-4, as kindly redesignated by the Legacy Files Staff..........

Glad to see this finally up heresmile The third pic there is mine but unfortunately the small "thumbnail" version is the one that got includedfrown That's a 1.0 install showing off Moon's new Excelsiors damage but doesn't show well that small.

@#5. Make a fresh install of legacy then copy the fresh legacy to another folder and install whatever mod you want to. I copy 1.0 and then patch to 1.2 and make a second master copy so I can base my installs either on 1.0 for nacelle damage or 1.2 for multiplayer. Install the mods you want in that install and make new icons for the Legacy.exe in that new folder. Then use the icon you want for the install you want to run.

Keep an extra "master" copy of legacy so you can always recopy it without having to fully uninstall so the installer will let you reinstall. Tried to keep it short.

Yeah, if you wanna play multiplayer, have the patches.........if you wanna see nacelle damage, especially Moonraker's new effects on the Excelsior when the nacelle blows off, then keep the patches off.....

Or of course, you can do what some other UU mod users are doing and having an install for nacelle damage and an install for multiplayer.....

I can't seem to get the borg to work in multiplayer. I select them and for somereason Mirror Fed's spawn instead of Borg.

First things first Very nice mod !!

But is anyone else having a problem with the main campaign ? when i start a campaign and finish the first mission, when it comes to picking my new ships instead of the federation ship list it gives me the Dominion ship list frown if that makes sense...

Use the icon that's created on your desktop for the Race/Hud tool to choose to enable Borg in multiplayer. Only 4 races at a time can be active for multiplayer that tool chooses which 4 you want.

I forgot to mention. Everyone that is going to play in the multiplayer game has to have the same 4 races selected or they won't be able to connect. Read more detailed in the upper section of the readme posted above or at the uu website forums.

Well.... it has nice graphics and new effects.... but thats kind of it... some of the AI seems rather glitchy and tbh it does not feel to well balanced or anything really remarkable added in terms of actual gameplay.

Well, that's your opinion and I can't argue with something you feel personally, but you have to remember, for the last 10 months, we've had no scripting tools..........Now, you could create other modes before and missions before, but they were never truely anything new in game-play because that was impossible.........

Version 1.0 of the Ultimate Universe has what January to September in Legacy Technology could do...........Now we have scripting tools and people who can use them...........I think Version 2.0 in the future will have a lot in the way of gameplay, but for the technology UU Version 1.0 was built on, with all the new ships and music and sound effects and interfaces and maps and races............I think it's a pretty major achievement and a lot of people agree.

If we can achieve this without tools, with tools.........well...........you'll see eventually..........smilewinkwink

There is an 8472 Bioship included in this pack (both from the screenshot as well as the Voyager Scorpion 2 mission). However, when I am in the ship selection screen, I am unable to locate this ship anyhere, not under the Fed, Klink, Rom, Dom, Borg, Vul. Also I looked in the list for 1 on 1 and did not see it there either. Anyone know how I can fly one of these ships?

if you'd seen the video title on scorpion vid it clearly states

STAGE 2 TEASER

lol. it will be comming, The vid was to show what is in development and what is to come.

it will be there eventually after we refine the ships and maps etc for that race the footage you saw was very early development stage stuff. it's no way near ready for the game yet. thats why there was only visuals and music.

hope that clears it up for you

Yeah, Ultimate Universe is capatible with both a copy of Legacy that uses both of the Bethesda Patches and also, a completely clean copy of Legacy without the Bethesda patches, works on both.

it sounds like a problem we've come accross when the install hasnt been done right.

try this

completely wip legacy and uum off u system then reinstall everything again in order

1 - legacy
2 - 1.1 patch
3 - 1.2 patch
4 - UUM 1,0 Full

if it helps also i have found installing the official patches using the repair option rather than modify usually corrects this error. ( it seems to effect on a small amout of ppl but generally this does solve the problem)

any issues head over to out ultimate universe website and the guys their will be more than happy to help u out if it persists.

While I really appreciate (and, in fact, very much enjoy) this mod, I do have some gripes about it.

First off, I don't like the fact that so many "god ships" were included. Secondly, was it necessary to include 5-6 iterations of some of the ships (especially the 5-6 voyager "refits"wink? Thirdly, why was the Sovereign class reduced to some second rate ship? Why were 4-5 Galaxy refits made to be far more powerful? Finally, there's a part of me that really just wants to see a mod that encompasses all canon ships balanced to their on-screen abilities. The Galor class, for instance, should be a tad less powerful, while the Defiant could use a bit of a boost from its stock incarnation. With all of that said, this mod was obviously an incredible effort, and the over all quality should be obvious to anyone. My differences in philosophy are just that, and they are not indicative of whether or not the UUmod team has achieved its goals.

Erikszpyra, It's not currently possible to play as the Enterprise J in the mod, due to the fact that it's model wasn't the one we originally wanted and also wasn't balanced.

However, other people have requested to play as the Enterprise J in the Ultimate Universe and you'll find a thread here, which will tell you how to activate it in the mod, should you want to play it as a general ship:

http://forums.filefront.com/stl-modding-editing/335196-monarch-class-uu-mod.html

And Doomsday, I'm afraid I'm not too experienced with the UUTool so can't advise you on what might be wrong there, if anyone else on our team sees this post, hopefully they'll be able to help.

Glad everyone is enjoying the mod, of course.........a lot of work, to say the least, went into it and though we're being quiet at the moment, there are designs, discussions and even some very early work taking place for Stage 2.......

We're really glad you're all enjoying the mod. Afterall, the fans of Star Trek are a big part of why we do this. Everything you see here in this mod, with the exception of the basic Wrath of Khan teaser, was achieved without the aid of Mission Scripting tools............so with the use of them, Stage 2 should be interesting wink wink

We don't actually have a Ferengi Marauder in the mod YET, but it was more an advertisement for the possibility for Stage 2 and that.

Don't worry though, I've already designed missions with Ferengi in and IF my designs are accepted and scripted, it's likely there'll be a functional model in Stage 2 to activate, if it aint generally playable.

As I said before, nothing is certain though because the plans are early designs.

We're glad everyone is enjoying the mod though. This team as a whole sometimes comes up against a lot of unwarranted adversity, but that's where the users of our mod come in. Your support gives us reason to continue, to invest our time and sometimes sacrifice time with our families, lol.....

Despite whatever you may hear, we're all a bunch of good guys and what this post is really about is our appreciation to the people who continue to support our mod, and we only hope you continue to enjoy the mod. There is a lot more to come, we're gonna continue to work hard and bring you new, high quality content.

Again, thanks for all the support, stick with us and your Ultimate Universe Legacy will only continue to improve.

Hello,
first let me congratulate you to an excellent MOD. I have just finished playing the campaign with it. The only problem I had was when I did not get the Enterprise E and was left with the D. The other problem I had that sometime loading the savegame gave me the Exception Violation error, but that is the problem of the game and not of the MOD. So excellent work.
I have one question though if I may. I tried the TLG 2.3 MOD as well for comparison. Yours is better in all ways except the models. Do you plan, in some next release or Stage 2 to make new models. I really like the lightning effect on warp engines on Excelsior and other ships in TLG.

as for what JC said, it is true but you can play all four of the TCs on your PC just like I do. I find the four quite different and sometimes you may want to play one instead of the other..like sometimes you want Ice-cream instead of chocolate! smile

Stage 2 of UU is open ended at this point. I'm not a fan of setting dates for releases because invariably something happens to mess it up. I CAN say that Stage 2 will take major advantage of the scripting tools. The UUM Team is in full swing at this point. We'll post links and information right here as we go along..

To install another instance of legacy for modding purposes, it's been my experience that installong on seperate hard drives works best. Good thing for me that i got 3 in 1 towerPimp! But anyway, what you would do is when installing for simplicity's sake, is install each one into a path like

Cstick out tonguerogram_filesbethesdastlegacy_install_1
Dstick out tonguerogram_filesbethesdastlegacy_UUmod
Estick out tonguerogram_filesbethesdastlegacy_Ledgendary_generations

And then create a shortcut to your desktop for each legacy .exe, and then rename each one for the mod its linked to.

But if you only have one HDD, then go ahead and follow the example i left just change the drive letters to all C:.

If that doesnt fix your dilemma, i don't know what will...Except that anti-matter bomb i keep under my desk.

Well for somereason the backslashes wont display.

I'll just use an equal sign inplace of a backslash

C:=program_files=bethesda=legacy
C:=program_files=bethesda=UUMOD_legacy
C:=program_files=bethesda=Legendarygenerations_legacy

I also forgot, it might be a good idea to do the necessary tweaking to the start menu shortcuts

Stage 2 info..

You may have heard about Muldrf's tools and our newly scripted One on One scenarios. - any scenario - any ship(s)/station vs. any other ship(s)/station.. Not just one on one my friend - a fleet vs. another fleet - with or without stations - selectable as a drop down menu in the tools.

All Ultimate Universe Maps will be selectable in this tool for implementation of anything vs. anything else, fleet or One on One.

Here's three screenshot threads on our forum - showing off some stuff..

c:/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Star Trek Legacy.

Installing to the wrong directory will cause all kinds of problems.

It works for most people - but there are always exceptions:

What works for me is this..

Install Legacy once.. do not mod it..

then..

take the entire directory with Legacy in it.. copy it to a new directory in the 'Bethesda Softworks' folder - then install UUM to that new directory. I have 6 installs of Legacy done in this manner for various testing and Multiplayer uses..

DAMN great mod... you reinvented the game.

Some feedback from my side:
-I love the single player variety in the single player, keep that up!
-Pretty good balance in most parts
-Some great ships and models includes, i dont unterstand some replacements though. The defiant model e.g. seems to look worse than before.
-I would love to see some more new weapon sprites, like new pulse phaser animations for the defiant or overall smaller phasers and more canon torpedoes.
-The way you do maps is great, not flooding every map with 100 nebulas is exactly the right way.
-The ship choise for federation should be reduced to canon and maybe semi-canon ships and individual ships ("uss whatever"wink should be taken out. That would make the fleet assembly menu for federation much more enjoyable. Same might go for the dominion alliance. Putting those 3 races together was a great idea, but there are too many non-canon and similar looking ships too choose from, it is pretty confusing.
-The new UI really makes my day every time. Not only that it looks great, it also runs fast and is build up excellently, maybe the background picture in the main menu could use a redo, it seems pretty blured.
-Some ship classes seem to have problems with their torpedo hardpoint, for example the sovereign. There were one or two more if i remember correctly.
-I am experiencing a grapic bug when i see the dominion super carrier. Its damage textures are blinking through his original texture somehow.

This is probaly the best mod i've downloaded for legacy yet! It certainly fixes the bad points about the original legacy. I've been using UU for nealy a month and i still havn't used all the features yet!
The graphics are better, the physics are better and the gameplay is much better.

However, there's a bug with the single player campaign. On the 'Anger and Mercy' mission, the player doesn't seem to recive the Enterprise-E at all. I was stuck with the Enterprise-D which could'nt even take down a Rectange! Instead, I had to go to the singe missions to finish the campaign properly.
If there's a way to fix this, I would like to know.
This may have been mentioned before, but I couldn't be bothered to look through all the comments.

# 96, thanks for the comments, a lot of hard work and hours went into Version 1.0 and hopefully you'll enjoy Version 2.0 when it comes out later on this year. Things have developed quite a bit since Version 1.0, mainly due to the talent we have on our team, and I only speak for myself when I say I think it's gonna be something quite special, so stick with us smile wink

# 95, since I think the core product of Ultimate Universe 1.0 is pretty stable, Exception Errors can occur because of a corrupted download or mods have been mixed or it could just be a bad install...........or, if you're running Vista, I think Chris said something further up about it, can't remember............those are the usual reasons for a crash, and I hope that sorts out your problem.

Ultimate Universe Stage 2 will have 10 playable races..

Any combination of 4 races will be available in a Multiplayer setting.. tested before Stage 1 and just tonight with myself and Moonraker. You'll have the option of Uber 'Miri's Hot' explosions or Light Explosions, by just clicking in the tools - and it works in MULTIPLAYER!

Markeno/Muldrf rules!

The Ultimate Universe Tools will play a major part in Stage 2 - both in single and multiplayer battles. We have effectively eliminated the need for Single player skirmish in the game with the tools. We'll have race and era filters to help you in your skirmish selection. You'll be able to select any combination of ships vs. any other combination of ships. In the tools will be a wide selection of stock maps, existing JC and Ebak UU maps with updates, and many brand new maps with new backgrounds. Max Loef has already shown you some of his stuff. Moonraker has not slowed down, with more TMP ships and some other surprises. My friend Remore is a genius at certain things you've not seen in Legacy - without being too specific there, lol. There'll be some new music associated with the new races as well.

More news: (already public - included here for completeness)

Every ship in The Ultimate Universe that simply 'vanishes' when exploding in our 1.0 release will 'chunk' realistically upon Stage 2 release. It has always been a personal pet peeve of mine to have every ship in a mod that I produce break apart properly. In this image you see the chunking Dominion and a newly ported Ambassador Class by LC Amaral - ported to the UUM by Max Loef.

http://imagery.chrisjonesgaming.net/albums...assDomChunk.png

There'll be many more new ships and updated to older ones - not just Federation, but all races.
Our Modelers/Porters include: Moonraker, Max Loef, Phoenix, Grunt, Coolguyli27.

There's a Wells Cass (Relativity) - and we'll also have some other 29th Century conceptual bases/ships from Coolguyli27. Cardassians in TOS also by Coolguy - new conceptual models to replace the Galor used now. It is conceivable to me that the Cardassians existed in TOS era, and one or two drifted over to Federation/Klingon/Romulan space..

More large objects in select maps. Maps/Missions that don't end properly now will end properly.

10 Playable Races balanced. Not revealing the additions/changes just yet but.. all Out of Balance ships have moved to their own 'Uber' race slot, all races and eras.

A Fully functional and balanced Terran Empire.

Miri's hot background updates, camera angle adjustments, config and Art_CFG.h files for improved visuals.. also brand new much improved explosions with new subsystem explosions as things get damaged on yours or the enemy ship during battle.

Remixed music by Mindwipe.

This is the 'tip of the iceberg' as they say. We'll post occasional progress reports right here. The UUM team is solid, committed, and having tons of fun.

1 more word: Scripts. Hehe.

Chris Jones, Director/Founder of the Ultimate Universe.

Several Gameplay Problems Actually

1, The Danube Class Runabout is nowhere near as manouverable compaired to the Dominion Attack Ship in the mod even though the series the runabout owned it in that department

2, The Tal Shiar Warbird looses its shields against 1 Dominion Attack ship regardless if it has full power to shields-plus the warbirds torpedo's are very innacurate

3, On several occasions the ship I was using was hit by a torpedo-nothing out the ordinary there except when the first torpedo fired in the mission cripples half your systems again through a fully powered shield

Enough of the bad-some good things

1, Plenty of Federation shipping to choose from including Mirror Feds
2, Weird ships-FAS Kadet, USS Chester, USS Sunshine
3, Fun Historical missions
4, Finally having ancient freighters re-equiped with powerful weapons that hunt you down, all those Y-class ships you re-armed!!!!

Overall 7/10

Most of the problems you've had WerdBorg are to do with balancing. One of the main things we'll be trying to focus on for Version 2.0 this year is balancing to make the game feel a lot better in the respects you brought up and in other areas.

The USS Chester and the USS Sunshine are personal ships to the team and were requested, there may be more like that in Version 2.0, it all depends.

Version 1.0 was released in August time last year and there were some problems, but we're hoping that when we finally release Version 2.0, it'll be a much more polished and interesting product and we're all hoping you'll enjoy it as much as everyone has enjoyed 1.0

Watch it with the Terran Empire Miranda Class ship (Pre-Refit)- On 1 skirmish I lost the starboard nacelle 30 times. I just got out of my yard on the asteroid level when the S nacelle was blown of with a torpedo-I went back in and just as I got out a single disruptor beam tore it off again through full shields. The engines on this ship are particularly vunerable but other systems are really hard to take out. 1 Question I have to ask-Why does the pre-refit Miranda have the same weapons as the post refit (Stuttering + Pulse Phasers and red torpedo's) instead of Blue phasers and White torpedo's like on the normal Federation Pre Refit???? Just seems odd as it is the only 2260's Terran Empire ship and it has 2280's weapons. Have to say though that the cloaking device is a great addition for all T.E. ships-Cloaks for the Terran Empire should be made canon!!!!!

There is one Terran Empire ship that we have seen with cloak in the series: The I.S.S. Enterprise-NX01 in the episode "In A Mirror Darkly". wink

So cloak for the Terran Empire is canon. cool

Watch it with Scimitar, I got slaughtered because even with Maximum shields it would only last around 30 seconds against a sovereign. It has the right amount of weapons but seriously lacks in defences. I've went quite happily up against all the enemy turrets on "Asteroids" in the TE Pre Refit Miranda plus the enemy ship for a long time, while using Scimitar I had to run for my life from just a couple of turrets. This ship has a worse problem than loosing a nacelle all the time, it loose's all its systems all of the time.

Ultimately,I feel abliged to post this comment to show appreciation for this mod that I've been using for quite some time. I would definitely rate this as "the" best mod ever created for Legacy, but I would'nt recommend this for those who are stuck with slower-end machines as you will go through the same burden I had to go through playing in slow motion mode.I think the best qualities about this mod would be the eek! of the graphics. No other mods thus far has the quality of texturing UUM provides for all it's units, another would be the "Dominion War" episodes in the history battles menu(I just cant get enough of dog fighting in major fleet combats)A thing to consider though Chris Jones and team....please prioritize the game lag problem as it really does take the fun out of the mod. You guys however did do an excellent job with this mod, bottoms up for you guys too! Beer! Beer!

When I complete a Historical or Original Battle the mission does not end after blowing all the ships up that you are suppose to blow up. I have to manually exit the mission.
Any thoughts on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

All Original and Historical Missions will end properly in Version 2.0 of the Ultimate Universe.

In Version 1.0 of the Ultimate Universe (Which is the latest public version), it wasn't possible at the time of release, so until the next release, you'll have to exit manually like you said.

How can I manually activate the tractor beam in Skirmish mode? Can you use the Command menu to do this? Is there something I can do to a file in order to activate the tractor beam? If so, please tell me how I can assign that function a button, of my choosing, for activation.

Any help that ANYONE can give me will be greatly appreciated

You know you'd probably get better feedback if you go to the forums with this question and as far as I can tell most(if not all)ships already have tractor beams, just target the object with the center cross and press the "F" key(one of the icon is for the tractor beam). As for assigning this function a specific button.....well let's just say your going to need help from the more experienced modders out there. big grin

Like with any mods, the whole legacy install needs to be deleted if you don't wanna keep it.

This isn't just a UU issue, it's one that all mods do because of the fact they overwrite a lot of files during improvement.

Stage 2, as we are calling it, is progressing along with no particular timetable for completion. Stage 2 will involve scripts, and more scripts - but that;s not all. The team is cooking up a another pre-stage 2 surprise, though. (The 1st one being the stage 1 UUM tools)....

Some things.

Exploration Mode will be somewhat enhanced from the Stage 1 version. We plan to make it very realistic.

I personally am joining our little family of scripters here at UUM. I have said before that The Ultimate Universe missions, historical and otherwise, that currently exist in Stage 1 will all end properly and some will get a better scripting treatment. I've always known I could grasp C++ but never really tried too hard at it for whatever reason. I'll end up doing a lot more now that I've finally started - big grin - probably have some Beer! Beer! along the way. Hats to Remore, Markeno/Muldrf, and MaxLoef for their assistance in the beginning.

At our team meetings and in our private forums we talk a lot of scripting ideas, and wish we had time to do everything. A while back we had asked for voice talent for use in the mod, but sort of got away from that in favor of ship building and tools and such. I am thinking of getting back into the voiceover direction. I've stated before that every mission in The Ultimate Universe will end properly, and some will go further than that. We already have a script to do proper endings.

Also - Stage 2 will get a complete physics re-work for more realism, see the removal of the plethora of specialized Federation ships (they go to another race slot), and lots more surprises...

The Darwin Station map wasn't actually finished when it was released in the mod, it was a mistake by another team member that it got included but it will be fixed up for Version 2.0

Darwin Station was a ground station, but at the time, it was difficult to see how to make the map interesting with one planet and a couple of ships, but as has been said, it wasn't finished at Version 1.0, I'd hardly started in actual fact.........so it will be better for Version 2.0 and will also have the correct ships, including the Lantree being the class that she was in the show.

We've got it handled and we're glad you're looking forward to some of the features in our Stage 2 release. We should have a lot to give the community.

Well Well - The wild ride continues with The Ultimate Universe. Stage 2 is well under way with MAJOR Scripting events. I personally have taken up scripting, and can't seem to stop. With the help of Re and Muldrf/Markeno - I have become a scripting addict - and to that end..

All Eras of Bajor Exploration Maps now in Stage 1 from ENT to TNG are being scripted with little storylines (they will have some battles) - Ryugi Kazamaru, My wife Sunshine, and many team members are doing voiceovers. In fact every Exploration map now in Stage 1 will be a story unto itself. ALL of them!

Exploration was the original mission of the NCC-1701 - to seek out and explore strange new words.. We are doing it..

The actual goal for Stage 2 is to have every single Stage 1 historical and original mission scripted to begin and end properly, as well as be engaging and fun for the player. – same for Exploration. That WILL happen.

also this..

The Ultimate Universe Stage 1 Original Mission 'Dominion Earth' is being scripted with voiceovers, and will be released as a stand-alone mission - A storyline will be associated with this - tied to the Dominion War.

Sunshine and Myself will supply voices - She is the Captain, and will also give a victory speech after a successful mission. In the event you lose - I play the part of a Starfleet Admiral who does his best to keep things together. It sounds and feels rather dark to be looking at Earth after your own death listening to the Admiral - on the other hand - Sunshine's enthusiasm as a Starfleet Captain is one that gives me goosebumps, lol.

You'll see a lot going on - ship placement on the map is such that the action starts up immediately, with certain goals to be achieved. Transport and cargo ships are in the system, doing their best to avoid conflict.

There'll be Captain's chatter and general bridge chatter going on during battle, including a great exchange between The Fed Captain (Sunshine), and a Cardassian Gul.

Storyline by JC2006, Scripting by Chris Jones

There will be 2 versions of this - the traditional map now in Stage 1..and..one of those gigantic maps with Earth to scale. On the big map you'll start out right in the action, and as you progress towards Earth, things get rougher. I played A LOT with the lighting and got it where I like it.. no shiny hulls.. a very slight blue tint to things.. and a good feel.

The Dominion have infected EVERYTHING..including the main EARTH Starbase and the USS Lakota, which has been beefed up by Dominion.

Look for a video - still tweaking, adding, etc..

Stage 2 will be a balancing act where the ships will have a much more realistic feel to them - the Uber ships will be moved to their own Uber race slot - where balancing does not matter, and the remaining races, including the Federation, will be balanced out. I firmly believe in the Fun Factor for any Mod I do, and we certainly have it here.

Races added since Stage 1:

Xindi - Tholian - Gorn - and some Delta Quadrant races (these in one race slot separated by era)

An Enhanced Terran Empire - in its own race slot - fixed up by Phoenix and..
A Complete Section 31 slot - done up by Ganondorf2002

More Romulans and TOS ships (Oberths) by Phoenix.

The current Stage 1 OneonOne has been/will be replaced by Muldrf's Tools.
All other Stage 1 Modes will be seriously overhauled.
Miri's Hot will continue his graphic/explosion enhancements.
Phoenix, Grunt, Max Loef, and the great Moonraker will grace us with more awesome ships, and some ships will come from surprise sources..
Mindwipe and Laserdisc will provide cinematic brilliance.
Muldrf will apply his scripting talents as needed.
Ryugi Kazamaru will assist with balancing and give voices to some missions.
There will also be some special guest voices!
JC2006 will provide map updates and storylines for many missions/scenarios.
GamerGlo will maintain our video section so that we may show you lots!
Victor 1st will give his blessing - and maybe I can get him to beta test, if Spore doesn't consume him.

All wives/girlfriends/significant others will provide moral support

All Stage 1 Skirmish maps are being looked at and fixed up or adjusted as needed.

so.. STAGE 2 OF THE ULTIMATE UNIVERSE MOD WILL ROCK THE HOUSE! Your house..

Hi.
The mod is, as has often been said, great!
I really look forward to Stage 2.

Yet, I still have some problems to point out after playing some of the historical missions:
Way of the Warrior: The Klingons that are not part of the first wave don't attack, and luring them towards the station doesn't work and usually ends with the total annihilation of the Defiant.
The Wrath of Khan: Am I under a mis-impression or is the Reliant way too stromg? And, by the way, the refit of the Constitution class has aft torpedo launchers.
The Battle: I know that it was done due to balancing, but the Stargazer kicking the Enterprise-D's stern? Must be kidding...

An idea for Stage 2:
Is it possible to collect all refit of a ship class (like Mnemosyne class and USS Sunshine, for example) into one class with an additional arrow or dropdown menu to choose the version you want, just as in Starfleet Command 3?

hello i have a suggestion,
i love the mod and greatly enjoy its gameplay, however the shield bleed effect is irritating because you can destroy a ship whilst its shields are still up. this kind of defeats the object of having shields in first place if you get what i mean.
could it be possibly removed or decreased like the oem+ mod?
just a thought , thanks

HI, im a new player of the Star Trek Legacy game.I just got my copy of it a month ago and love it .But i have tryed the UU mod and can not get it to work. I had to uninstall it and the game and reload the game back up.
If any one can give me a bone on how to get the UU mod working , PLEASE do.
I have played different mods like the Star Trek Battles, but would like to get the UU up and running.

thank you for any help.

Depends how it's not working. If it's crashing your game, it may be a corrupted download, those can happen from time to time unfortunately.

If you load the game and it's just stock, it may be that you've installed the mod to a different place by accident. Default, the UU installer sends the mod to the default location for Legacy, which is something like Cstick out tonguerogram FilesBethesda Softworks, but if you have multiple copies of Star Trek Legacy, then you have to redirect it to the install you want to add UU to, as you know from playing other mods, you just have to overwrite the install and then play.

As I said, it depends on your problem, but I hope those suggestions help. If not, get back to us and we'll see what we can do to help.

@141 Self Destruct is being addressed in 2.0 but sorry no ramming.. Not sure it's possible even though it was mentioned by Mad Doc that they wanted to put it in..

@144 For the Blurry Menus download and install this :
http://legacy.filefront.com/file/UUTools_with_Vs_Battle_Demo;91890
It fixes blurry text on some ATI Video cards as well as adding some other stuff to UU.

@146 Since you installed other mods at some point I expect some files were left behind by them. You must uninstall Star Trek Legacy then delete the cstick out tonguerogram filesbethesda softworksStar Trek Legacy folder. The reinstall Legacy and then UU1.0 after that. Jc might be right though that you got a corrupt download too if that doesn't fix you up.

Hi, I've downloaded this Mod and think its AMAZING, GJ people. I've got one problem with it though. When I played Legacy before I added this, I could select the ships in my battle group by pressing 1-4 for individual ships, and 5 for all four of them. Now I can still use 1-4, but I've no way of selecting all 4 again. Any ideas?

@151 Do "Shift+1", "Shift+2", Shift+3", "Shift+4". That often works even when 5 doesn't. Sometimes you find that a ship or two won't select that way. Things should be a little better for 2.0. Alot of stuff affects that problem.

hey peoples, great mod, as i know your well underway in the creation of uu 2.0 just a question and a suggestion if you do a uu 3.0. anyway the question, is it going to be like an update or a full reinstall, meaning is it gonna patch 2.0. and now for the suggestion, an open play function like in armada would be great too, building stations, mining resourses, anhiliating other races, any way great work. keep it up.

Two Thumbs Up!

@153 UU2.0 will be the final release. Atleast final version, there might end up being some smaller addons for it after release.

@154 Glad it worked for you. It's a little annoyance but not too bad to do that way.

Sounds like a bad install, either corrupt download or it didn't install properly. UU is still Legacy, but your menus should change as well as the ships and maps etc.

@169 The cube probably did take damage, well a little anyway but it repairs nearly as fast as it receive it or faster in most cases. It's awfully powerful.

Cool over 24,000 downloads now. (24159)

The UU 1.5 Upgrade should be up here relatively soon on Legacy files. I hope everyone likes it when they see it.

I've noticed that some of the TOS ear Klingon ships crash the game,

campaing levels work fine so i guess it's some of the new ships this mod adds that causes the crashing since the new klingon ships in this mod do not appear in the multiplayer

@174. Are you talking about UU1.0 or UU1.5 (which currently isn't listed on LegacyFIles)?

UU1.5 has issues with various Klingons from each era that often cause crashes when you start a Skirmish match with them. Currently it's being fixed, and then there will be a recompile of the 1.5 and possibly relisted on this site after that.

But as far as UU1.0 I've never heard of such a thing reported before in what's going on about a year and a half now if it was installed properly.

The 1.5 compile was recompiled at our site a while back we didn't resubmit it on here. I haven't posted links to our site, but since this site will be offline in 5 days I don't see what it would hurt.

You can download the recompiled UU1.5 Upgrade file at: http://www.ultimateuniversemod.net

As well as the 1.5 Minifix. And the UU1.0 is there as well ofcourse. Along with various other content.

Three times and the exact same error or were they slightly different? That points to a corrupt download, or the file on Filefront's servers got corrupted somehow.. Been there awhile so not overly likely, but possible I guess.

@184. Uninstall UU, Uninstall Legacy Patches, Uninstall Legacy. Delete the remaining files and folders in the "C: Program Files Bethesda Softworks Star Trek Legacy" folder. Then Reinstall Legacy from the DVD Etc, Reinstall The Legacy 1.2 Patch(optional), Reinstall UU1.0.

If you still have a problem you might have a bad download of the UU1.0.

We don't have a problem with people making Youtube videos with out mod at all schloss13, we always welcome and enjoy people who play our mod and post videos of it and we watch quite a lot of them when we can, in between development of Version 2.0, and of course, we always appreciate it when people state that they've used Ultimate Universe when they have.

If you wanted to join our forum, we have a section called Mindwipe Studios, where you can post links to any videos you've made, it's the best place to draw our attention when we're not busy.

the ultimate universe...its good, ill give it that. it has a HUGE selection of ships and maps, and the weapons effects are the best of ANY redo, but it also has FAR more bugs and issues then trek battles 2 or aftermath 2.0. id give it 6/10.

Well, this version was released in September 2007 and it's now almost October 2009, so any early problems with this release aren't surprising.

Since then, we've had Version 1.5 (not available on this site), as well as mini-fixes (also not available on this site) and Version 2.0 is around the corner, so this version is more of a start-off point than a be-all and end-all of Ultimate Universe.

Saying all that, if you happen to prefer another mod, that's your decision, we don't put any other mods down to gain favor, only give the facts.

in all versions of legacy, that i play, my ship is in the lower quarter of the screen. In uu1 my ship is in mid screen often obscuring my view of my target ship and weapons fire . Is there an adjustment for this?

We're currently working on that problem for Version 2.0, though I don't believe we currently have a released fix for that. I do know that when 2.0 is released, it should be fixed.

@198 Actually that angle was intentional (and is only on UU1.5 not 1.0). 2.0 is using another "viewangle" so to speak. It is intended to help with the target being blocked from view (if your using a locked on camera), but will still be a unique view of the game.

I am so to this whole legacy thing it is not even funny, but one thing is for sure, I love the game. i dont know much about this thing so Im just gonna ask some basic questions here. thanks to anyone who can help me.

I am in the process of downloading this Ultimate Universe Mod from this link here.

http://www.filefront.com/8812653/NEW-All-In-One---The-Ultimate-Universe-1.0/#

I sure hope it's the most up-to-date link there is because i know this has been around a while now and gone through upgrades over the years. but i havent even been able to install and play my stock game until recently when i got a new gaming laptop, so im in the dark in a few ways. fist of all, what is a mod and how do I install it? secondly, is this the file i need to make my stock version of legacy have the whole gaming menu LCARS themed interface? and is it also what will put the voices of nimoy, doohan, takie, and nichols into the game as well as the TOS sound effects as I have seen on youtube? and if so, does it also put other guest star voices into the game that I am not aware of? Thanks.

Getting back to basics, a mod (short for modification) is a set of files made or altered by a team or individual. In the case of the Ultimate Universe, our team has worked on files and improved them, as well as added the features you mentioned (IE: The TOS voices and sound effects).

The list of new features since the stock game are too numerous to list here, but others such as voiceovers include the voices of the TNG cast being added as well.

How do you install the mod...........basically, you install your normal stock Legacy to your hard drive and then you download the mod of your choice. It's important to remember that since each mod is different but works with the same files, you can usually only have one big mod on the same install.

If you choose to download the Ultimate Universe, it comes with a simple-to-use installer. You direct the installer to your stock install of Star Trek: Legacy and then it will begin installing the mod over the top of your install, replacing and adding files in the game.

Once it's finished, you just start the game like normal and the Ultimate Universe runs...............just like adding an add-on pack to a game really.

Ultimate Universe Version 1.0 is not the latest release of our mod. Due to certain things, releases beyond UU 1.0 can't be found on this site, but you can find them on *Rule 6*

After you have Ultimate Universe Version 1.0 from here, you can go there and get Version 1.5 (which is an update to the mod), as well as a minifix released after that to correct a few bugs we missed.

If you need anymore help, the best place to find us is at our forum, which you should find a link to in some of the other comments on this board.

Also, Version 2.0 is almost round the corner, though we can't give a specific date just yet.

Hope that's been of some help.

thank you jc. that is of tremendous help. thank you very much for your assistance. where did the voices of tos and tng come from? other past games? are they of the entire casts of each? You said "Ultimate Universe Version 1.0 is not the latest release of our mod. Due to certain things, releases beyond UU 1.0 can't be found on this site, but you can find them on *Rule 6* and im trying to find the proper download link on that link, but i seem to be overlooking it.

I'm not sure where the voiceover packs actually came from, they were part of the mod two years ago, but the person who got them is included in the credits of our mod and I believe he sourced the voiceovers from different places, I'm not really sure specifically.

From what I remember (cos when you mod a game, you hardly get to play it, ironically enough), in TOS, you hear Kirk, Scotty, Spock, Sulu and Uhura.

In TNG, you hear Picard, Riker, Worf, La Forge, Data and Dr Crusher, I believe.

As for where you can find Version 1.5 and that, here's a direct link since I know our site can occassionally get confusing because of all the information and that.

*Rule 6*

That should take you to the Version 1.5 download page and also provides the updated "minipatch" too, which just fixed some bugs, as I said.

something else i forgot to ask...i already have the stock game installed on my laptop, and right now im in a campaign at "the squeeze" level. will installing this mod affect that? or do i have to uninstall the stock game and reinstall it or anything like that?

BTW, it would be awesome if the mod had some more voices from ENT, DS9, and VOY as well...

Multiplayer on Legacy is very problematic, it's very temperamental and won't let the game proceed unless almost every file in every folder is the same on all installs involved in the multiplayer, which especially on a modded install, isn't easy.

Installing our mod SHOULDN'T affect your saved game, but just in case, you could back-up your save game, which can usually be found in your My Documents folder, under the STLSave folder, but I'm not sure on that.

As for further canon voiceovers, I can't comment on that as it's not my area. At the moment, it's not been discussed.

One thing to remember, that I almost forgot, is that when you install the mod over the top, it will effect the way the campaign plays.

The reason for this is because we've altered a lot of the way the ships play and look and this could unintentionally affect the campaign, either how difficult or how easy it is.

One option you have is to backup your stock install, by right clicking your stock install and then copy and pasting a it. This will create two installs, one stock, one with the Ultimate Universe on...............of course, this is dependent on whether you have enough hard-drive space to accommodate more than one install

hmm, so you've installed the game, installed Ultimate Universe Version 1.0 over the top and then Ultimate Universe Version 1.5 over the top of that?

Unfortunately, those Unhandled Exceptions are meaningless, so you kind of have to guess what could be wrong.

I should have remembered to tell you that Version 1.5 is an upgrade to Version 1.5, rather than a stand-alone pack.

Really, you need to install Stock Legacy, Version 1.0, Version 1.5 and then the Minifix and the reason for this is because some files get newer and newer as you go along, and if you install Version 1.0 over the top of Version 1.5, it will likely overwrite newer files with older ones, if that makes sense.

So if you start again (I know it's a lot of hastle, we'll get there in the end, lol), you install in this order:

Stock Star Trek Legacy
Ultimate Universe Version 1.0
Ultimate Universe Version 1.5
Minifix

then it SHOULD work.

I GOT IT WORKING! It's soooo awesome. one thing though. before, the stock version of the game allowed me to pucs the "5" button in order to select all the ships in my fleet in order to issue a command to all of them. now when i push 5, nothing happens. do you know what that's all about?

Unfortunately, it's a unknown bug that cropped up during our modding of the game and I don't think we've been able to fix it ever since it came up. Usually, you can still press Shift + 1, 2, 3, 4.............but to be honest, even that locks sometimes, and we've never been able to work out why.

Most people who play the mod just find it a minor inconvenience, though it certainly is something that we wish we'd been able to fix.

Thanks for the support and enthusiasm PETESCAN121, lol, we very much appreciate it.

CJG would just like to say though, to people reading this who might prefer another mod, that this is his opinion and we'd prefer that a fight about which mod is best or better or worse doesn't start here, I'm sure the moderators would agree.

Thanks

When you combine quality and quantity like we've tried to do, system requirements do go up unfortunately.

We're proud of Version 2.0, a lot of people have enjoyed it, but if it's not for you for the reasons you stated, then it's not for you................it's always been the mod users who decide what they want, almost like whether you prefer Coke or Pepsi, it's by taste.

Legacy was the first Game I played involving Star Trek, (after Starfleet Command got boring and Starfleet Academy Put me to sleep Puke!). I loved it but got a little bored.. This mod sounds good but I dont know if it can tear me away from my newest love ....Star Trek Bridge Commander... Legacy runs MUCH slower than BC and Im afraid if I put a mod on Legacy (Stock install still) then it will just flutter and croak.... Any clue to how to prevent this?Cry

Hello, I was wondering if the Species 8472 Bioship is in it like the picture.

If so, what race does it fall under?

If not, thanks again.

It's difficult to remember if it's included or not. I believe in Version 2.0, which you can get from our site, it was activated and included in the TNG Multi-Era Race. In Version 1.0 and I believe Version 1.5, the Bioship was deactivated and only featured in a couple of maps as an AI ship.

SFCommander, it's true Legacy isn't Bridge Commander, but a lot of modders came over here for exactly that reason, because we wanted to improve the game cos it could be improved. I doubt any of us will ever make it perfect, it's got too many engine limitations. As for lag, yeah, Legacy tends to do that sometimes. It depends what kind of system you have, but even high-performing computers lag a bit, just because Legacy wasn't too well built.

If you can live with it, you could try decreasing your graphics settings inside the game, and also removing the Post Process folder, which takes away the cool warp effect, but that all depends on the user. I don't care about graphics personally and have it running on rock bottom, bare minimum settings.

I assume you are trying to install this download of 1.0 - you might have a corrupt download.

Try going here http://www.ultimateuniversemod.net into the downloads area

You'll need to be a member of that site to download our 2.0 release - that comes in 3 parts - and is far superior to this 1.0 - we never did get to putting 2.0 here on Legacy Files.

There is a forum for help as well - which if you sign up at the link above you'll use the same login info. http://www.ultimateuniversemod.net/e107_plugins/smf/smf.php

We'll help you all we can..

yeah, I think that's because the newer versions aren't hosted here and also, the newer versions are massive in comparison. I think Version 1.0 is a good starting point for the Ultimate Universe.

If people try this version and like it, it's a good taster of what can be found in Version 2.0.............taken in the right context, I'd say it's almost like a demo to the full game

This is SUCH an awesome mod, but please, please, PLEASE could we have a patch update that adds; fek'lhr, HeghDuj, and Heart of Kahless (qeylIS tIq vo') class Klingon ships (or any others that you can think of) and some more Terran Empire ships, maybe Imperial Excelsior, Ambassador, Nebula and Galaxy class variants. Considering the power upgrade on the Constitution, these larger ships would be incredible, and could take ANYTHING on!

The only ship I think the Roms are missing is the Kerchan class warbird, but the Tal shiar warbird is BRILLIANT! Also, the Ferengi Marauder is missing (should be around Galaxy class weapon power, according to "The Last Outpost"wink
